Podcasting, Amy Winehouse and Airport love.
Hey awesome friends,
The last couple weeks has been packed! My wife and I celebrated her 40th year on this planet and we were celebrating our wedding. Two major milestones!
We actually eloped on January 1st of this year. The original date was set for sometime this summer, like this past weekend, but we decided we needed to start the year off with a bang! And so we did! We were moving on december 31st, so we thought since we are moving into our dream apartment, in our dream town let's just do it all and get married to our dream girls….each other. Cheesy but awesome!
We bought our marriage license at 2:00, the movers were booked for 4:00, new couch was being delivered at 6:00 and we managed to find a JP that would do the ceremony, last minute, outside, on the beach, in winter, THE NEXT DAY!
We were cozy in our new dream apartment. The movers had just left, couch was stacked in the middle of the room in boxes with everything else and we realized we needed 2 witnesses…..we knew nobody and it was december 31st at 7:00 pm.
We have amazing friends…..two beautiful guys, Burner and Brian, drove from Edmonton all night to be with us the next day…...it was incredible. We love you guys!!!
So here we are this past weekend with a house full of friends celebrating the wedding party we never had and Lizzie's 40th year! WOW Thanks to all our friends who came out and thanks to those who sent their love. You are receiving love back ten fold!!!
Live Painting, Love and Music
I had an event this friday at Martin Street Art and Music Gallery here in Penticton. It was a blues and bop art and music event. Myself and Kindrie Grove were painting live while the band played. I decided last minute to do a portrait of Amy Winehouse. I had no idea why this came to me...it was literally friday at about 2:00 in the afternoon and I needed to do my drawing of the bird I was going to paint on this canvas and head to the gallery for set up.
A bird. I keep threatening to paint birds….in fact this painting threat has been happening for over 2 years now and nothing has happened. I’m not sure it will…..I will keep going with this painting bird desire and see where it ends up but for now my bird turned into Amy Winehouse. Perhaps there's a story in that…

Lisa's Awesome Guide to Surviving the Airport
So my wife was talking to me about her recent flying experience. She is not a frequent flyer. Not even a casual flyer really. More of a “I gotta go home to Montreal for a visit, it’s been 6 years…” The whole airport rules and routines was completely out of her league and not that enjoyable. More of something to endure in order to get home.
I on the other hand love flying. I have a great routine in airports from domestic to International. I tried talking to Lizzie about all the fun things about airports and what my routines were but I think she glossed over at about the second sentence. To be fair she had just arrived home and was glad the whole thing was over. We decided to go to the beach instead of talking about my airport routines. A good decision all around…..
But it got me thinking. How come I love airports and so many people dread them….So I decided to write a guide on how to survive the airport for beginner’s...
What we think we want isn't always what we really want....
August 6th was the relaunch of my Podcasts, a few weeks after the relaunched of Awesome People. I took a break this past few months to regroup and rethink what Awesome People is and who it's for. In the beginning every person who was interviewed was committing to having their portrait painted. Something I thought everyone would want and something everyone said they wanted. But little did I know not everything people say they want, they actually want. A weird human behavior is found and a new life lesson is had!
I actually had a similar experience while running my little business UrbanBuckles.com. People saw this red buckle I had and really wanted it! So I said ok!! I will take your number and make more and when they are ready you can come pick one out. I made about 12 and called...I sold two. Everyone else decided to buy a different buckle…..what the hell!!!
The lesson is...what we think we want and what we actually want are sometimes, or perhaps most times, two different things…...a strange human behaviour that requires more research. SO there it is....a new human behavior I need to research.
Awesome People has been relaunched and a new format for the podcasting is now live. You are the first to be involved, thank you!
Thanks for being so Awesome, cheers lisa
